Frequently asked questions.
Q. Whats the "Best" fabric?
A. There is no "Best" fabric. There is the one that's right for you. Each has pro's and con's. Sunbrella is water repellant and requires more maintenance and treatments over time to keep looking good and water repellant. It has the widest range of color availability.
Weblon Regatta (marine vinyl) and Stamoid are marine vinyls. Easier to keep clean and looking good. Less color availability, and cost more. Seamark is Sunbrella with a marine membrane laminated to the underside, essentially a waterproof version of Sunbrella. Decide what's right for you.
Q. What colors of Sunbrella and other fabrics are available?
A. We stock 15-20 of the most popular colors at all times. We can get any color in just a day or two. Here's a rather long link to the current availability our supplier has. These colors change from time to time. There are clickable links on our home page that will take you to the current fabrics.
Q. What is the process to order my new top?
A. All explained in detail on our Quote or Order page. Send a couple of pictures of your top (still installed if you can) via email to us: [email protected] We need to confirm it’s a style we can do via mail order. If there is no existing canvas on your frame, send us a picture of your frame. When we reply to your email with confirmation it’s a style we can do, we’ll attach printable order/information sheet for you to print out and send with you old canvas.
Q. Do I have to send my old canvas
A. Generally, yes. Having us use your old top as a pattern will guarantee proper corner radiuses, and grommet placements. You want your new top to fit as well as the old one. If your top is rectangular with rounded corners, we have a process using measurements and a radius guide I can email. It's a few hoops to jump through, but you don't have to send the old top to us.
Q. Can a new top be made just using measurements?
A. In some cases, yes. If your top is perfectly rectangle with rounded corners, we can walk you through the steps to measure for a replacement. Tops that are bowed in the front or back can be done but we’ll need a pattern or the old top to ensure a proper fit.
Q. What is the turnaround time?
A. Generally a week or less. Peak times, just before season, thing get backed up a bit but when that much work is in front of us, we bring in a 3rd and 4th fabricator.
Q. My canvas is beyond repair, or I don't have the canvas to send, can you still make me a top?
A. Yes. Contact us and we'll walk you how to make a pattern for us. This involves using a poly tarp from a hardware store, bungee cords or pipe clamps and a magic marker.
Q. What other materials are available?
A. If It's made, we can probably get it. Keep in mind, materials are designed to be "marine grade" for a reason. Sunbrella, and Weblon are the most widely used.
Q. Where is your phone number?
A. We don't list one for a simple reason. Productivity, and the spam calls are relentless. E-mail us. We'll get back to you. I promise.
Q. Where are you located?
A. G2 Outfitters is a Florida based business (snow birds in training) with production in Vermont.
